Ushers can be any member of the society and their job is to scan everyone’s tickets for the show and making sure no one enters the auditorium until permitted. They are also the help in case of an emergency such as showing the audience where the fire exits are. Anyone within the society (which is everyone at university of Sheffield) can be an usher and it includes a free ticket to the show that evening!
