When a shipwreck separates twins Viola and Sebastian, Viola disguises herself as a man to seek shelter in Duke Orsino's court. Sent as a messanger to deliver his affections to Countess Olivia, she soon finds herself in a comical web of mistaken romance while th other characters play their own tricks around her.
